Privacy Policy for Unhook

Unhook ("the app", "we", "our") is a mobile application designed to help people track and manage cravings while quitting vaping and smoking. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is stored, and what data is collected by third-party services used within the app.

We built Unhook to be as private as possible: your personal tracking data — your name, quit date, craving logs, mood entries, and diary notes — is stored locally on your device only. We do not operate any server that collects, transmits, or stores this information, and we do not have access to it.

1. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

When you use Unhook, the following information is saved directly on your device using local on-device storage. It is never transmitted to us or to any external server:

• Your name (as entered during setup)
• Your quit date and time, and your current streak start date (if applicable)
• Your selected avatar and app theme colour
• Craving log entries, including craving intensity, trigger reason, nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) usage, mood, and outcome (managed or relapsed)
• Diary entries, including mood and any notes you write

This data remains on your device unless you choose to uninstall the app or manually clear its data, at which point it is permanently deleted. We have no ability to view, recover, or restore this data, as we never receive a copy of it.

2. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Unhook is free to use and is supported by advertising provided through Google AdMob. If you choose to upgrade to Unhook Pro, advertising is removed entirely.

While ads are shown, Google AdMob may collect and process certain information automatically to serve and measure advertisements, including:

• Advertising identifiers (such as your Android Advertising ID)
• Device information (device type, operating system version)
• General location information (such as country or region, derived from IP address)
• Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, and engagement with ads)

This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with Google's own privacy practices, not by us directly. We do not receive or store this information ourselves. You can learn more about how Google collects and uses this data, and manage your advertising preferences, at:

3. In-App Purchases

If you choose to purchase Unhook Pro, the transaction is processed entirely by the Google Play billing system. We do not collect, see, or store your payment details, card information, or billing address — this is handled directly between you and Google in accordance with Google's own privacy and payment terms.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal tracking data (name, quit date, craving logs, mood entries, or diary notes) with any third party, because we never collect or receive this data in the first place — it stays on your device.

The only data shared with a third party is the advertising and analytics data described in Section 2, which is collected directly by Google AdMob as part of its ad-serving service, not by us.

5. Children's Privacy

Unhook is intended for adults seeking to quit vaping or smoking and is not directed at, or intended for use by, children. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this app, please contact us using the details below so we can address it.

6. Your Choices and Control Over Your Data

• You can view, edit, or delete any craving log or diary entry at any time from within the app.
• You can edit your name, quit date, and avatar at any time from the Settings screen.
• Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data.
• You can reset or opt out of personalised advertising through your device's Android system settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads) or via Google Ads Settings.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or change how advertising is handled. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
